Grand Hotel episode 3 video: Eva Longoria makes her presence felt

Eva Longoria serves as an executive producer on Grand Hotel, and the sneak peek below from episode 3 shows that you’re not going to have to wait all that long to actually see her on-camera.

In this sneak preview, you can see the one-time star of Desperate Housewives step into the hotel world in a flashback scene as Alicia’s mother. When Alicia was just a little girl, the two had dreams of working on the hotel together. It was going to be the key to living a wonderful life, where the two could be enormous happy and show that they have all of the business aptitude in the world. Maybe there is some sort of alternate timeline out there where life around the hotel is so much smoother and there’s not so much of a frequent power-battle.

Unfortunately, that world is not this world, and the sneak peek below proves once more that the tensions between Gigi and Alicia aren’t cooling off. In the present, Gigi is doing what she can in order to curtail spending and run the business on her terms. This isn’t all information that Alicia wants to hear and it’s clear where this is coming from. It’s a different vision from what Alicia wanted for most of her life and accepting this is going to end up being a challenge. This episode will be all about finding a way to see if these characters can get along, and if there are some other threats that will be thwarted along the way.

As for what makes Longoria’s casting on the show so brilliant, it’s that she is being established as a part of the world without needing to be a part of the present. This does enable her the opportunity to come back on the show in the future, without her having to have a regular presence. She can space out her appearances and be on board whenever it makes sense. This preview has an element of star power but also serves the story — it gives you more of a sense of where Alicia comes from and we have to imagine that this will be important throughout the season.
