Grand Hotel episode 3 preview: Danny’s clue and another ‘Curveball’

Grand Hotel may be exactly the show that you thought it was going to be coming into the season, but we certainly don’t think that there is anything wrong with that. What you are getting here is a story about employees that have a real knack for causing trouble at their chosen establishment. Some are problem-solvers, some are pot-stirrers, and others are largely innocent victims in the midst of the world around them. Some people just want to get paid without being immersed in stories of possible takeovers, pregnancies, and a disappearance.

Sometimes, you can’t change the crazy things that happen around you at work. The people who can choose some of their narrative are Alicia and Gigi. They have power; they’ve found it, and it is really all about what they choose to use said power for. Running a hotel (for some people) may be about figuring out the best omelettes for the breakfast bar or how to stop people from throwing chairs in the pool. Here, it’s about protecting secrets that are so much more severe.

Below, CarterMatt offers up the official Grand Hotel episode 3 synopsis, with some more news as to what’s coming up next:

Danny discovers a new piece of information in Sky’s disappearance, Alicia and Gigi disagree on how to best run the hotel, and Gigi gives her a glimpse into her mother’s past.

With this being the third episode, we don’t actually think the writers need to work anywhere near as hard in order to focus on the hotel itself. We’re at the point now where we at least have a sense of the institution; instead, the focus shifts ever so slightly over to the individual characters and what motivates them. Take, for example, why Gigi wants to give Alicia some of the information that she does.

What’s Gigi’s endgame? Everyone does what they do for a reason and we think that this is even more the case when you start to think for a moment about the leadership structure. Maybe, Gigi foresees this as a way to get some more information out there that damages Alicia — thus, giving her more powerful and authority in the hospital.

As for Sky’s disappearance, we just hope that it’s a clue that makes the story go in the right direction … as opposed to Grand Hotel just spinning its wheels.
