Jersey Shore Family Vacation star Mike ‘The Situation’ Sorrentino sentenced to eight months in prison
At a New Jersey courthouse earlier today, the reality star was officially sentenced to eight months of prison time stemming from a tax evasion case that has gone back several years and also involved his brother Marc. His defense team worked to argue for probation, whereas the prosecution was reportedly angling for more than a year behind bars. This feels as though it is a potential compromise, and it is possible that The Situation could be released early depending on various factors at the prison.
This sentencing does feel as though it is an inevitable end to a saga that was discussed at length throughout the past year of the MTV series. Mike showed great concern over heading to prison, but also worked in the process to try and turn his life around. He got engaged to longtime girlfriend Lauren Pesce, and to go along with that he has overcome his issues with substance abuse.
Perhaps the biggest sign that The Situation has actually worked to improve his life is that almost all of his fellow co-stars were there to support him in his court appearance today, including Jenni “JWoww” Farley (who is going through some of her own personal issues at the moment) and then also Angelina Pivarnick, who only recently became a rather-large part of the Jersey Shore universe again. We’re not sure that all of these cast members would have been there for him back when he was struggling near the end of the show’s original run and it seemed as though many of them did not want anything to do with him.
While Mike’s future appears to be a little more cemented than it was months ago, new episodes of Jersey Shore Family Vacation are going to continue airing on MTV. We have a hard time thinking that this is the end of The situation’s story, even if we do not have a chance to see him for some time.
Once there are more updates out there on Mike’s prison sentencing, we will have some of those for you here. (Photo: MTV.)
