The Originals season 5 video: Daniel Gillies sets up Elijah’s decision, aftermath

The Originals

Moving into The Originals season 5, we know that Elijah Mikaelson is not in a particularly-easy place. After all, we are talking here about a guy who is not exactly himself anymore. He recognized that so long as he was conscious and understanding of himself and the world around him, he would always find his way back to his family. It is with that in mind that the character has made the shocking move that he has, opting to forgo his memory and start anew.

As we look ahead to the season 5 premiere, it’s abundantly clear that this character has put himself into effectively an impossible position. There’s really nothing to figure out anymore when it comes to what he should do with his family. He doesn’t know his family! He doesn’t have to worry about himself in that way, but sooner or later, things are going to change. Hope is going to look to bring her family together; getting Elijah back to himself could end up being a goal of hers.

The video below may not be the most descriptive one that we’ve ever seen released by The CW, but it is still very much fun for many different reasons. For starters, Daniel Gillies does his part to explain some of Elijah’s decisions and where he is at the start of the season. This is a nice way to reflect on the journey leading into where things are kicking off.

While we may be seeing Elijah one way at the moment, at the same time this is a series that is very much all about change. The character we know right now is very much different from the character we’re likely going to see at the end of the series. Do you really think that the Mikaelson family is going to look exactly the same in the finale as it does the premiere?
