Supernatural season 13 spoilers: Jensen Ackles playing another character

For anyone out there excited to see a different side of Jensen Ackles as an actor on Supernatural, there is going to be an opportunity to see that in the near future! At some point before season 13 comes to a close, the actor is going to have a chance to play a part that is not strictly his character of Dean Winchester.

Ackles recently confirmed the news to Entertainment Weekly, discussing this opportunity through the lens of some of the other people his co-star Jared Padalecki has taken on in the past:

“Over the years I’ve only ever had to just play Dean, whereas Jared has had to be Lucifer and Gadreel and all these different actual characters other than Sam. Dean never had to do that. He’s only been Dean. The biggest stretch was Demon Dean but it was still Dean, it was just the demon version of himself, which I always love because it makes my job easier — I can just play the character I know … That is all going to change soon. Something big’s coming.”

Intriguing, no? CarterMatt has always thought that this is the fun of a show like Supernatural, where there can be things like possessions that take place and cause characters to be changed in some way that could surprise many viewers. It’s ultimately still a little early and therefore hard to know for sure what the new version of Dean is going to look like, but suffice it to say we’re going to be eagerly watching to see what happens.

More Scooby-Doo talk

If you have not already visited the link here and saw some more photos of this big event, we do think that there is a reason to do that! This Scooby-Doo crossover is probably one of our favorite things that Supernatural has ever done just by virtue of comedy and creativity. It’s an hour that you absolutely don’t want to miss.

In some ways, you can argue that this episode is going to feature a very different dimension to Dean than what we have seen before — after all, this is a version of him that is animated and seeing some of these characters could take him back to his childhood.
