Outlander season 4 filming hits major milestone
In a new post on Twitter, show executive producer Maril Davis confirmed that they have hit the halfway point in production! What that likely means is that the third block of episodes is complete and we’re now moving into block 4. Episode 7 is probably the next major priority, and given how long it has taken the crew to film the first three blocks, it seems as though production could be wrapped up in June. It took four months to get to this point, though there was a nice little break in there for the holidays.
Book readers may be able to speculate somewhat as to what’s happening in the second half of the season, but we do still think that there is enough potential for surprises coming up to put everyone on a fairly similar playing field. For example, we’ve got questions aplenty surrounding how Murtagh will be used and if there are some characters who will come across different somewhat from what they were in the books. Mr. Willoughby is already one example of that.

Overall, signs point towards the series being ready again to air new episodes in the fall. The post-production team can already get a lot of work done on the first handful of episodes and pick up some of the others as time goes along. They’ll have plenty of time to work on some of the later episodes in the season; provided that the series returns once more in September the final installments of the season are likely not going to air until December.
What do we hope for now?
How about a new teaser? It’s probably a little bit early to get that now, but maybe we will in around April or so. We anticipate most of the teaser footage being about early episodes but what’s interesting now in retrospect is that the season 3 teaser actually used footage from several episodes into the season. Think Jamie on the island beckoning for Claire. That makes it so that almost anything is possible — provided that the footage doesn’t constitute too much of a spoiler.
