NCIS season 15 episode 13 sneak peek: Vance copes with an arrest
In the first sneak peek below from this episode, you get a pretty good sense as to the situation that Vance is facing. He learns for the first time that his daughter was found shoplifting, and suffice it to say he was upset about the situation. She didn’t really want to talk about it, and that is one of many things that is rather strange about the whole thing. He doesn’t understand what would compel her to do something like this, and to go along with that there’s another interesting question here: Why didn’t she just say who her father was? While we’re certainly not rooting for nepotism by any means, there is an interesting argument here that had she opened up about who her father was, there is a reasonably good chance that none of this would have ever happened to her in the first place.
Ultimately, Vance is left even more confused than he was after hearing about the arrest in the first place.

The second sneak peek is all about Vance trying to get a better sense of understanding; he was asking plenty of questions about himself as a father and whether or not he’s done enough. Gibbs encourages him to go home and be with his daughter, and after Vance refuses Gibbs says something that is somewhat heartbreaking: He doesn’t have anyone to go home to. This is a very easy thing to forget about just because of the fact that he’s the sort of guy who pushes through tragedy. Yet, it’s hard to see the enormous sense of loss and the hole that is likely there within Gibbs’ heart once you push past his hardened outer shell. Sometimes, this sort of pain only shows up in moments where you let it. Opening up here we have to wonder if Gibbs was finding a way to get through to Vance and convince him that he was not where he was really supposed to be?
