Arrow season 5 episode 16 spoilers: Felicity, Oliver face key decisions
Specifically, in this video you can see executive producer Wendy Mericle do her part to details the challenges that are coming up for Oliver and Felicity in general as we get to what is a pivotal part in the season where so many different things can effectively turn on a dime.
For Oliver Queen – He finds himself in a place where Prometheus has him cornered and challenged at just about every turn. He’s got him stopped as the Green Arrow, and he has him in a precarious position as the Mayor. Meanwhile, we also know now that Prometheus has Susan Williams as a hostage, so any wrong move could mean that he kills her.
Oliver doesn’t know at the moment that Adrian Chase is actually under that mask, but we have to assume that we’re going to learn this sooner rather than later. (Alas, it doesn’t feel like the same can be said for Vigilante.)
For Felicity Smoak – There’s been a good bit made already about her falling in more with the hacker group Helix, and in this preview you can get your first look at the group’s headquarters! As it turns out, this is not some isolated organization. It’s like fsociety from Mr. Robot on steroids! This on the surface is going to be exciting for Felicity since she’ll have the chance to work with other people who, at least on the surface, are like-minded to her and understand some of her feelings and interests. However, there’s also a pretty significant challenge that comes along with this as you start to see more and more of what this group actually does. They may appear perfect collaborators for Felicity on the surface, but they may force her to become someone she hasn’t quite been in many years.
We don’t expect resolution for Felicity in this episode; instead, she’s probably going to feel the burden of her decisions more as the season goes on.
