ABC’s ‘Scandal’ season 5 spoilers: Premiere scoop on Olivia and Fitz (plus a Royal mission)

It took ABC a little while to be comfortable releasing their first details regarding the September 24 premiere of “Scandal,” but rest assured that we now have them for you below! “Heavy Is the Hand” is the name of the episode, which was written in its entirety by show creator Shonda Rhimes. Anytime that Shonda herself pens an installment, you should be very aware that it is quite a big deal.

Now, let’s get to that synopsis:

“Olivia and Fitz are back together again and enjoying every scandalous moment together while Cyrus, Mellie and Huck are all still dealing with the aftermath of helping Command. Meanwhile, when a visit from the Queen of Caldonia and her family turns into a tragedy, Olivia is hired to make sure the Royal family’s private life stays private.”

Of course, it was assumed that Olivia and Fitz would at least begin the season happy, given that the show has made you wait for years to finally have these two characters in this pot. More of the mystery is going to come mostly in seeing what comes after this, and if there is a way for these two to remain together in the midst of the chaos that will inevitably surround them. After all, there is a tendency for this to happen almost constantly.

As for the Royal story, we’re mostly just happy to see it as a little bit of proof that while Kerry Washington’s character may be connected more to Fitz right now than ever before, this is not necessarily changing her professional endeavors. She will still operate independently to help people who need a situation or two “handled.”
