‘Community’ season 6 on Hulu now a distant possibility, talks fall apart

The latest -We are almost now officially at the end of the road when it comes to “Community,” as one of the major players to pick up the canceled NBC series has decided to walk away.

According to TVLine, Hulu has decided to pass up on the show, despite it being an internet favorite and something that seemed to be a reasonably-perfect fit. There was no reason given for the decision, but given that they were already the exclusive streaming provider for new episodes, many felt as though this was the best last-ditch effort that the show had to stay alive.

Still, sources close to Sony are not giving up on the show just yet, teasing to the aforementioned site that there is still a chance that another suitor could come into the mix. Given the deal Hulu already has, it seems hard for Netflix to suddenly enter the fray as some sort of serious contender; our attention is shifting more to a network like Comedy Central, who revived “Futurama” previously and already has the cable rights to the show. This is a longshot, even more so than Hulu, but there have been some near miracles with “Community” already to keep it on the air for five years.

Just as you would expect, we’ll have some more updates on this when they become available. For now, the only philosophy we can tell you to keep is a sense of realism. The show is probably not going to be coming back, and if it does, think of it as an extremely pleasant surprise.

What do you think: Where do you think “Community” should end up, or do you think it is better to just let it go at this point? Share in the comments, and head over here to get some other TV scoop via our CarterMatt Newsletter.
