‘The Bachelorette’: Chris Harrison insists Chris Bukowski stunt not staged
Everyone knows that “The Bachelor” and “The Bachelorette” are fans of creating drama where there is none … including adding some to what could have otherwise been a dull premiere.
However, in the wake of what happened on Monday night the show’s host is trying everything in his power to insist one thing: He and the producers had nothing to do with Chris Bukowski from Emily Maynard’s season (plus “Bachelor Pad”) turning up. He first of all defended the authenticity of it by saying that if this moment was staged, they would have him show up at a place different than craft services in order to get on the show. Here’s what he had to say specifically to TV Guide after the fact:
“I was literally sitting in the control room when I hear, ‘Chris Bukowski is downstairs’ and I’m like, ‘Wait, what?’ They were like, ‘He’s with security at craft service.’ Most people will assume we produced this and put this together, but you see how awfully produced it was and rough it was. If we had produced this it would’ve looked a lot better. We had a security guard there cracking jokes!”
Harrison claims that Bukowski is a genuine guy and wasn’t just there to get on TV again, and that may be true. However, the reason that we have such a hard time believing that is hat it’s not like social media is a foreign concept to him. There were many chances and ways that he could’ve talked to her before “The Bachelorette” started filming if he wanted to, unless he was really desperate to make this gigantic gesture. Our feeling here is that even if this moment was unplanned, when producers found out it was happening they of course wanted to do everything that they could to get drama out of it. Imagine what would’ve happened had Andi actually let him in to the competition.
