ABC’s ‘Scandal’ season 3 spoilers: Bellamy Young promises more with Olivia, Mellie
Have you enjoyed the bizarre-but-effective dynamic between Olivia Pope and Mellie Grant on “Scandal” season 3 as of late? As strange as it may seem, it feels almost like the two characters have finally reached some sort of actual understanding with each other. For the first time, the First Lady has resigned herself to the idea of never being the President’s true love, and she realizes that Olivia can ultimately be an asset when used properly.
When you consider everything that has transpired on the season thus far, the new comments from Bellamy Young to E! News should not come as much of a surprise at all. After all, it would be strange to think that these two would not spend any time together moving forward given the way in which the metaphorical chessboard is aligned:
“I don’t know that she’s a person to draw lines in the sand like that, because she’s playing the long game, so any sort of short-term casualties are like pawns, right, they can be sacrificed within her tribe. She sacrifices her tribe constantly to get to her ultimate goal of this identity that she has of being in the White House, so you know, I wouldn’t put anything past her.”
The funny thing at this point is that for Mellie, her biggest concern anymore may not even be trying to figure out how to keep Fitz and Olivia apart; instead, it’s just about trying to make sure that the re-election campaign does not ruin them. This is a story that definitely is “the long game” symbolized perfectly; it will take a good while for the election to arrive, especially since we at this point don’t even know yet who his specific opponent is going to be. If it is Josie, then they better move that story along quickly given how long Lisa Kudrow is set to be a part of the show.
