ABC’s ‘Scandal’ season 3, episode 8 preview: The story of Olivia Pope’s mom

Take a look -At the end of Thursday night’s “Scandal” season 3 episode, there was clearly a shocker that sent some reverberations through the fanbase (though we kind of saw it coming): Olivia Pope’s mother is not dead at all. As a matter of fact, she’s alive and well enough to demand to see her daughter immediately.

Next week’s episode is entitled “Vermont Is for Lovers,” Too,” but we imagine that you could really care less about the name of the episode right now. Instead, you’re much more curious in finding out what sort of story lies ahead for Olivia’s mom now that we know the truth. Kerry Washington’s character still has many hurdles to get through before she is even made aware that her mom is alive, let alone finding out how to communicate with her. Expect some great emotion (and great acting) the moment that she does have the opportunity to find out the truth.

Before we go any further, we do have to share the full synopsis for the episode, even if it may not be all that illuminating to you right now when it comes to major spoilers:

“Olivia and the team try to handle both uncovering the truth behind Operation Remington, while also managing a potential crisis with the Josie Marcus campaign. Meanwhile, Quinn falls further down the rabbit hole with Charlie, and Cyrus creates a plan to take down Sally, but doesn’t think of the possible harm he could inflict on himself.”

In case you’re new to the world of television and secrets, the reason why Olivia’s mom is not even brought up here is simply because this was sent out to the media weeks ago. Therefore, they couldn’t say anything about it. But expect this to be a huge part of the story, just as you should also expect to see plenty of Quinn in her new role, and also Mellie’s relationship now that she and her husband have a little bit more of an understanding.

After the craziness of tonight, is there anything that you want to see on “Scandal” next week? Be sure to share your thoughts below, and click here to catch our full review from the episode.
