Are you as ready as we are for the arrival of Ariel on “Once Upon a Time” season 3? Obviously the producers behind the hit ABC show knew that they had a potential gold mine here courtesy of one of the most popular fairy tale characters out there. They scheduled her first appearance during the all-important November sweeps, cast a popular actress in JoAnna Garcia Swisher, and also revealed last night that Lana Parrilla is going to get her wish in playing Ursula, the evil queen of the sea that gave many kids growing up during the late eighties / early nineties nightmares (us included).
This episode on Sunday is simply entitled “Ariel,” and in addition to that promo that we first shared yesterday that gives you a little bit of an idea as to just what you can expect, we also have a few additional details now courtesy of the synopsis below:
“Back in the Fairy Tale Land that was, when Ariel (JoAnna Garcia Swisher) saves Snow White from drowning in the ocean’s depths, Snow returns the favor by helping her new friend get acquainted with Prince Eric, with whom she has fallen madly in love with. Meanwhile, Emma, Mary Margaret, David and Hook attempt to save Neal, who is imprisoned in one of Pan’s encampments, and Regina and Mr. Gold begrudgingly team up to find a way to take down Pan.”
What’s somewhat interesting here is that there is not a mention of just where Ariel is in modern-day Neverland at the start of this episode, even though it is still pretty clear that she is around. We also know that Garcia will be around for at least more than one episode as the character, but there is no guarantee if she, Tinker Bell, Pan, or any of the other news characters we are meeting now will be coming back to Storybrooke later on this season. We are personally more curious to learn just what Pan’s origin story is, and why he has decided that being an annoying / evil pest is the best possible career path for him.
What in particular are you hoping to see from Garcia during this “Once Upon a Time” episode? Be sure to share below, and we’re going to have all sorts of scoop on this all week long. Stay tuned.
