‘Supernatural’ season 9 spoilers: Mark A. Sheppard on humanization of Crowley, Castiel

What's coming up? -“Supernatural” season 9 may still be a solid month away from premiering, but the scoop is continuing to pour in. This time, we are turning to a man who has managed to be such a key player in the show, you would almost just assume that he is a regular (even when he’s not): Mark A. Sheppard. We are going to see Crowley back for more this coming season, but it’s fair to say that this is going to be a far different incarnation of the man than what we have been accustomed to seeing over the years.

Speaking to Zap2It, Sheppard promised that we are going to see a much more “human” side of the Crowley character than we have over the past several years thanks to the transition that Sam tried to enforce upon him; even though it may not have been completed, the aftereffects are still going to be at least partially present:

“The best explanation is this: while Sam tried to humanize Crowley with the supposed cure, while they didn’t complete that cure there are certainly residual effects from taking that path. There is definitely a residual effect. Whether Crowley likes it or not, there is a residual effect. So I don’t know if I’m going to be quoting more HBO series as we go along.”

Palmer also promised that we are going to actually see at least some common ground between his character of Misha Collins’ Castiel, who will be going through quite a transformation of his own courtesy of the character falling down to earth:

“We’ve got the humanization of Cas, because obviously his grace has been removed. And possibly the humanization of Crowley. So it should be an interesting season.”
