‘The Walking Dead’ season 4 spoilers: Robert Kirkman on Rick, Michonne’s budding friendship

So is a Rick – Michonne hookup on the horizon for “The Walking Dead” season 4? There is a large contingent of people who still apparently want this to happen, and we have one word for them: Patience. If this ever does come up, it is not going to be a situation where season 4 starts, and the two are running into each others’ arms in slow motion like the end of a romantic comedy. If these two are running anywhere, it is going to be away from an army of walkers.

While Robert Kirkman does not rule out a possible romance for the two in speaking on this subject to TVLine, he does make it very clear that in the beginning, Rick is still going to be getting over losing his wife Lori. For the time being, the focus is going to be on the characters forming a sort of natural bond with one another as they try to survive the elements (and the enemies) together:

“They are definitely forming a friendship. hey have a very large mutual respect for each other because of their capabilities and their ability to trust one another, and I think that’s a lot of what was growing in the [Season 3] episode where they both went off on a run together.”

Season 4 is gong to feature Rick with a rather different set of priorities than anything that he held on to in the past. For example, his focus is not going to be so much anymore on him trying to be a leader anymore, and we are instead going to see him try to concentrate on some other important matters, such as raising his son right and finding different ways to occupy his time in the prison.
