‘American Idol’ notes: Candice Glover’s National Anthem, Lee DeWyze’s cover video

American IdolFor this edition of “American Idol” notes, we’re focusing on two stories rather than three, mostly because they are pretty fantastic ones that also include some videos to boot.

Candice Glover’s performance – It has become a bit of a tradition for “American Idol” winners to get a chance to shine at the MLB All-Star Game, and it is also a tradition for many of these same singers to be called upon to sing the National Anthem at all sorts of events. It is hardly much of a surprise at all that Candice completely rocked this rendition of “The Star-Spangled Banner.”

How do we really know that it was great? Just remember that the game was set in New York, and these are the sort of fans that will tell you exactly how they feel if you do something wrong.

Lee’s acoustic “Fight” – We wrote recently about an acoustic version of “Fight” that you can download for free on Lee DeWyze’s official site, but now we have something else to go along with it: A brand-new video for the acoustic version. Lee debuted this on Yahoo! Music, and if you are a fan of the season 9 champ, you have to check it out. It’s emotional, it’s strong, and it has that folksy vibe that we’re really loving from Lee right now.

His new album “Frames” is going to hit stores on August 20, and we will of course have more on what Lee has going on before that.
