‘American Idol’ notes: Lee DeWyze, David Cook, and James Durbin news

FramesThis edition of “American Idol” notes is all about some guys who have fared rather well on the show, and we begin with something for those of you who happen to be pretty enormous fans of Lee DeWyze: He’s offering up another free download!

If you head over to the link here, you can get an acoustic, in-studio version of “Fight,” which is one of the songs that will be on his sophomore album “Frames” this summer. If you enjoyed “Silver Lining” and have yet to hear this song, it’s an emotional folksy song that is somewhat in the same vein. He’s been performing this song at a variety of shows over the past few months, and hopefully he’ll continue to while touring with Serena Ryder moving forward this summer.

“Frames” will be released in stores and on iTunes on August 20 through his new home at Vanguard Records.

David Cook and James Durbin’s offer – If you are a fan of either one of these singers, we imagine this report will be of interest to you. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the band Hinder (think “Lips of an Angel”) had approached the two of them about being the lead singer for their upcoming tour after Austin Winkler, the band’s frontman, made the decision to enter treatment for the second time.

In other Cook news, the season 7 champ has reportedly been offered a possible record deal by Verve, which is run by David Foster. Who wouldn’t want to be associated with this producer, given that he has worked with dozens of famous musicians? There are probably some other details to be worked out, but we know that Cook is considering the offer.
