‘The Big Bang Theory’ season 6, episode 12 review: Regina King and a high note

The Big Bang Theory“The Big Bang Theory” season 6 returned on Thursday night, and in so it made every second of the wait completely worth it. Not only was this episode one of the funniest of the entire season, but it may have one of the best uses of a guest star in quite a while.

After Sheldon tried to coerce his assistant Alex into not hitting on Leonard by telling her all about a woman’s supposed biological needs, he found himself in the company of the human resources director at the university played by Regina King, whose scene with Jim Parsons was pure comedic gold. She did not have to really say much at all for her character to be hilarious, as she merely had to use body language to explain just how angry she was over Sheldon continually setting the world of gender equality back several decades.

In addition to there being a good bit of comedy within this, all of the major male characters had some pretty good roles to play within this, as Sheldon sold each of them under the bus for some things that they have all individually done in the past. This brought back some funny things as Howard’s sex robot, and also reminded us that it is amazing at times that all four of these guys keep their jobs without protest.

While Penny forgiving Leonard for him not doing anything about the Alex situation was expected, the way it was handled was still enjoyable. The only real issues here with this half-hour were more about continuity:

1. While Alex surely did the right thing when it came to reporting Sheldon’s creepiness, it was almost out of character for her considering how she idolized Sheldon mere weeks ago and would do anything for him.

2. Was Sheldon a little too sexist with a couple of his lines?

Overall, was this one of the strongest episodes of the season to you? If you want to see a video from this episode, you can do so over at the link here.
