Friday night’s Hawaii Five-0 season 10 episode 7 is one for the ages — and one that may make you feel all of the feelings. Alex O’Loughlin has written and directed a story that could feel almost like a little movie in its own right. It may not be explicitly connected to a lot of the other stuff that you’re seeing this season, but we’re not sure that it really needs to be.
Instead, here is some of what we know about this episode — Steve is going to learn that his mother is in danger, and because of that, he will do whatever he can in order to rescue her from Colombia. The problem here is that it’s possible that she doesn’t want to be rescued. She’s got her own reasons for be there and that’s something that Steve is going to have to figure out … maybe the hard way.
We’ve been prepared for a while for the possibility that Steve could die on this show. As a matter of fact, we’ve been prepared for the possibility that it could happen at just about moment. The twist here is the possibility that he could die at the hands of his own mother. What gives there? Why would she do something like this? Well, if she feels as though this is the only way that she can complete her mission, maybe that happens. It’s also the sort of thing that could change Steve forever after the fact.
Obviously, Hawaii Five-0 is the sort of show that likes to throw something different at you almost every different episode … and that could be, to a certain extent, what the show is trying to do here, as well. While we’re sure that there will be some funny moments sprinkled in here and there, this could prove itself to be a meaningful hour and one that has you clutching for your tissues.
Visually, we already know that this episode will look different from many of the others we’ve seen this season. After all, big chunks were filmed in Los Angeles!
