NCIS season 17: Cote de Pablo hoping for Ziva – Tony reunion
In the early going this season, it’s clear that the focus is strictly on Ziva herself. She is the character who has suffered over the past several years as she’s been in hiding and separated from her family. There could be a chance to feature a reunion with Tony in the future, but that isn’t something that necessarily is going to be a focus in the early going. She has to stop who is after her, including the enigmatic Sahar, and do what she can to protect Gibbs. There aren’t any signs that Michael Weatherly will appear in the first two episodes, but is it possible down the road?
As a matter of fact, Cote even told Entertainment Tonight about the conversations that she’s had with her former co-star on the subject of a reunion:
When Michael and I talk, and we talk very often, we laugh and we say, “Oh my god, do you think these characters will ever see each other again?” And the answer is always, yes, we’re just wondering where and when. But these are questions you have to ask the writers. You have to ask Michael. It’s not just a Cote question, because most of these decisions are not made by me. We’re waiting for the proper platform and a nice storyline, and I’m crossing my fingers it happens. We’re both open to it and we’ll see what happens. It’s a matter of schedules and many factors; many things have to be factored in for that equation to actually become real.

With Michael, the key question revolves mostly around his Bull schedule and finding a way to make that work. If he came back, he wouldn’t like be available for more than just a day or two. That means that you’d need to have a very specific plan for how to incorporate him into the story that really pays off for the fans. Then, you’d also have to figure out a way to ensure that Cote is available that same day, and that the story lines up perfectly.

Do we think the moment will happen where these characters reunite? We think that there’s a good chance … but it’s not something we’d expect anytime in the immediate future. Best-case scenario for Tiva fans is in either the third or fourth episode that Cote will be appearing in this season.
