The Flash season 6: Show EP on Iris’ new look, story ahead

Flash season 4

When The Flash season 6 premieres on The CW this fall, there are going to be a number of changes big and small. Nora’s departure is a big change. Iris changing her hair may be a smaller one in comparison, but there is still something fun for a lot of people out there.

In general, hairstyle changes are rare for a show — viewers are used to continuity, and if they watch episodes out of order, it may not be something that lines up. Yet, The Flash is fairly serialized, with it being hard to bounce around from one episode to the next. That makes such a change feasible, and it allows both Candice Patton and Iris West the character showing off a different side.

For those wondering, it doesn’t seem as though Iris’ new look (seen below via Candice’s Twitter) won’t happen right away — she’s not sporting it in the photos for the premiere. It sounds like episode 5 could be when it makes its debut, and showrunner Eric Wallace even told TVLine about writing it into the story:

“There’s a reason her hair is that way in the story, and it has to do with fun, and Iris just being herself, and letting the character show more sides of who she is … It’s also about letting Candice show more sides of who she is as a person and as an actress, which is something I support 100 percent.

“I love her hair that way. I wouldn’t be surprised to see it more than once that way this season.”

Wallace also told the publication that Iris’ journalism story this year is going to be “fire,” and we’re looking forward to seeing how she gets her new publication off of the ground. She does already have an audience, but given the famous headline that we’ve seen in Crisis On Infinite Earths, there’s a lot of ground that the story has to cover over the first several episodes. That is great news for Iris fans, since it means that she will have a ton of awesome material to take on within the first part of this season.

Hopefully, we’ll have more behind-the-scenes teases of The Flash leading to the series’ premiere in October.
