Lucifer season 5: When does it start filming? The current timeline

Lucifer

When does Lucifer season 5 start filming? We know that there’s a desire to see the cast and crew back in Los Angeles, crafting what will hopefully be the glorious end to what has been an incredibly journey.

The bad news at the moment is simply this: The season isn’t underway just yet. However, production is going to be ramping up before we get to the end of this month! In a new post on her Instagram Stories, Aimee Garcia (Ella) confirmed that filming will be kicking off in around two weeks, which means hopefully a few fun behind-the-scenes images along the way. Even though Lucifer does have some spoilers to protect, the cast tends to be fairly good at sharing what they can. (For now, we recommend watching the rest of Garcia’s Stories for a look behind the scenes at the sets.)

Throughout the 16-episode final season, we imagine that you’ll get a chance to experience Lucifer back as the next King of Hell, doing what he can to strike fear in the hearts of demons and some other people who are roaming around down there. He initially decided to restart his reign in fear that some minions down there weren’t taking him seriously enough, and would start to roam the earth, thinking as though he wouldn’t come back. Yet, let’s also make it clear that we don’t want to see him stay in Hell for too long. The ideal here is that you spend enough time so that the twist matters, but that you also bring back Lucifer to Los Angeles soon to give him a chance to spend more time with Chloe. We think a big part of the pull of this series is seeing Lucifer and Chloe together and watching the two of them build a relationship now. Of course, that’s without even mentioning Garcia’s Ella and some other fun series regulars who will be playing their roles so beautifully throughout some of the upcoming episodes.

Odds are, Lucifer season 5 is going to premiere when we get around to spring 2020 — at the very least, the first half of it could if they go with a split-season model.
