MasterChef season 10 episode 4 video: Gordon Ramsay’s pool party

MasterChef

Are you ready for MasterChef season 10 episode 4 to arrive at Fox? We hope so, given that this is a celebration ten seasons in the making! We’re getting a pool party tomorrow night featuring past contestants, winners, and apparently some sort of celebrities. You’re also going to have a team challenge, mostly because MasterChef wouldn’t be the show that it is unless there was some sort of competition there.

Actually, let’s just say this — there wouldn’t be a pool party at all were it not for a challenge. That’s the real reason that this is happening.

In the video that CarterMatt has for you below, you can prepare for this challenge a little bit further as Gordon Ramsay, Aaron Sanchez, and Joe Bastianich talk about what makes this particular challenge important — it’s about celebrating the legacy of the show and not screwing it up. The food that the teams are cooking is pretty standard pool-party fare — burgers are a big part of it. It may seem like this is the sort of thing that contestants know how to cook in their sleep, but remember that you’re having to do a lot of it in a short period of time. Also, you’re having to do it in a crazy pressure-cooker environment with people yelling all around you. Turn away for one second and the buns get toasted a little too much — that’s one of the things that we see in this video.

What happens at the end of the challenge? We could see an elimination on the spot if the judges figure out who the obvious weak link is. We’ll be the first to admit that we’re not the biggest supporter of Team Challenges in the world on this show, especially when they’re tasked with doing something like cooking burgers — i.e. something that we do in our own kitchen all of the time. Adding a lot of the alumni to the scenery helps. That at least gives us a chance to spend most of Wednesday’s episode looking around the audience to see if there are a lot of famous faces out there from this franchise. One of the cool things about this show is that once you’re on board, you’re basically inducted to a really unique fraternity of people who have all gone through the craziness of the competition together. They understand the process of being on MasterChef, and because of that, they’ll be a sympathetic crowd if one team completely blows the opportunity.

Do we think Gordon will be anywhere near as sympathetic? Almost certainly not. He’s the person most of these people are going to have to deal with if things go south and they definitely don’t want to have to contend with that.
