Animal Kingdom season 4 episode 2 spoilers: Emily Deschanel’s big hour

Animal Kingdom season 3

Animal Kingdom season 4 begins in just under two weeks on TNT, and as exciting as the premiere may be, episode 2 is really going to get the party started — or at least it’s going to be that way if you are a fan of Emily Deschanel. After all, through the events of “Angela,” you will see (naturally) her character Angela in the spotlight as her history with the Cody family is unlocked for us. She’s got a checkered past, sure, but perhaps more important than this is another simple concern: Precisely who she is today, and if she is someone to be trusted.

As of this moment, we feel like the Codys should just put up a sign outside of their home that reads “no outsiders allowed,” given that the majority of them that they run into are simply up to no good — and the ones that are still there (think Frankie) may have a few plans and plots that are not yet fully exposed. It feels at this point that she’s got Craig wrapped around her finger and can promise him so many things without necessarily delivering. Whether or not she lasts all of season 4 remains to be seen, but she’s back in “Angela.” She’s ready to make an impact and we will see what kind of havoc she brings along the way.

Curious in some other news regarding Animal Kingdom season 4 episode 2? Then check out the attached synopsis (via SpoilerTV) below:

J (Finn Cole) reconsiders his relationship with Smurf (Ellen Barkin) after he gets bad news about Morgan’s death. Frankie (Dichen Lachman) lures Craig (Ben Robson) with the promise of another big score. The arrival of an old family friend surprises Pope (Shawn Hatosy); and Deran (Jake Weary) questions if Adrian (Spencer Treat Clark) is really ready to accept him for who he is.

In kicking off this discussion, let’s begin with a simple reminder here that J really should have considered his relationship with Smurf a long time ago. It’s not so much about the fact that she’s trouble because so is he. Instead, it’s more about control and his escape to break free of it. He wants money, he wants power, and she is the person standing in his way of that. This is why much of the start of season 9 could be total Cold War with J in one corner and then Smurf in the other.

Let’s close this out by circling back now to Angela, and precisely what makes this role so darn exciting in the first place — think of this as a TREMENDOUS chance to see something totally different from Deschanel than anything that we’ve seen before. We don’t think that Angela and Temperance Brennan have all that much in common and playing up that difference is almost certainly a big part of the fun here.
