Grey’s Anatomy season 15 episode 17 spoilers: Carina returns

Grey’s Anatomy season 15 episode 17 looks to be an important one — and we especially mean that if you are a fan of all things DeLuca. This is an episode that will showcase some of Andrew’s family history, which we imagine may stem in part from what he told Meredith earlier this season. It’s a devastating thing that he has to contend with. We know that his father is brilliant; however, we also know that he has a history of mental illness. This is a man who operated on a multitude of patients in a manic state but somehow was able to use some of his connections to avoid any serious prosecution.

This episode, airing next month, could address some of his history; if nothing else, you can be assured that this will bring back his sister Carina. It’s been a while since she surfaced on the series, which makes a certain degree of sense given who her storyline was primarily tied to in Arizona. Yet, it was important to have her back for this story to be told. In order to really dive into however Andrew is feeling, it makes sense to surround him with someone else who was there, and who knows what it was like to be in that environment.

Beyond the Carina/Andrew storyline…

What will happen with Teddy and Owen here? Superficially, the obvious implication is that in working with a married couple expecting a baby together, these two characters may be drawn closer together. Yet, we’ve seen Grey’s Anatomy work to try to avoid some of the superficial angles for their stories this year. For example, they ended the Amelia/Owen/Teddy love triangle (if you even want to call it that) so much sooner than they could have, and Teddy already has another new love interest in Koracick. Their relationship is lovely and odd in all the right ways; we’d like to see it continue, if at all possible.

As for what Amelia is doing at a conference, there’s really just one question to ponder: Why is she there? What is she hoping to legitimately achieve? As a doctor, there are obviously medical and informational reasons why someone like her would turn up … but then you remember that every single Grey’s Anatomy story is there for a reason. No carry is just shipped over to take part in some sort conference just for the heck of it or to give them something to do.
