NCIS season 16 episode 15 video: The case gets medieval

Next week, NCIS season 16 episode 15 is going to be stepping up to the plate with some pretty high expectations. If you look at the last two episodes in “She” and “Once Upon a Tim,” you can make a case for them as the best two episodes of the entire season, so the bar has been set pretty high.

Can “Crossing the Line” even hope to match that? It’s going to have a really hard time just if you are thinking in terms of the promo alone (Which you can check out below). It will be exciting to have a murder case at sea, given that this is something that we haven’t seen in a good while. Meanwhile, the murder weapon itself has a certain medieval twist to it. This is going to be one of those cases that will be largely dependent on the quality of the mystery. If the writers churn out an interesting whodunnit, there’s a chance that could lift the story to a higher place. It’s just tough from a promotional angle since it’s following two episodes that were deeply personal and taught us things about some important characters that we didn’t know before.

The good news is that this episode does have some sort of personal story courtesy of Torres, but the downside there is that it superficially seems to be lighthearted as he tries to work with some high schoolers at the request of Vance. The hope is that it is so much deeper and more compelling than the promo. It’s possible that there is a whole lot more going on here beyond what you have a chance to see on the surface, and we hope that there is. We know that Nick Torres is a good guy and we think that he’ll end up caring for some of these kids a little bit more than he will try to let on. Seeing his reluctance that could lead to an attachment could make for a fun sideplot, even if it doesn’t have the stakes of Ziva being alive or, to a lesser extent, learning about what led to McGee joining the Navy in the first place.

Hopefully, some more sneak peeks will come out early next week that give us more insight into what “Crossing the Line” is bringing to the table.
