This Is Us season 3 will bring answers on mystery woman in Vietnam
There are a number of different theories out there on who this woman is and why she matters, including that she is a former love of Jack’s to that she may be the mother of either a secret fourth Pearson child or potentially a long-lost cousin of Kevin, Kate, and Randall. The first possibility feels a little bit too much like a soap-opera twist; even if Jack never knew that he had a son or daughter over there, it still would be strange for Jack to give Kevin a necklace from a former romantic love of his.
At the moment, executive producer Elizabeth Berger is not super-keen on giving you details. Yet, she was kind enough to share the following tease (via Entertainment Weekly) on what is coming with this character:
“Obviously, she is a part of Jack’s larger Vietnam story and what happened over there, and I think we can all feel that Kevin is inching closer and closer to finally launching that journey and getting himself to Vietnam … We are definitely going to get answers, and we’re definitely going to see the way she fits into the larger puzzle.”
Our feeling, at least for now, is that she had some sort of relationship with Nicky and he remembered her fondly as someone who helped his brother through a tough time — but there’s still so little information that this could veer off in a number of directions. We still hope that she’s alive in the present, mostly so that there are some opportunities to actually hear her point of view on things that happened so many decades before. With Kevin going over eventually, there’s an opportunity for answers here.
