Blindspot season 4 premiere will feature Tokyo, sword-fighting

Blindspot

Just in case you needed evidence that the Blindspot season 4 premiere will be all sorts of epic, we come bearing that today.

As recently reported, the show filmed some of its premiere episode earlier this summer in Tokyo, Japan, marking what is hopefully becoming a tradition for the series. Getting to shoot in other parts of the world is a cool experience for the cast and, beyond just that, adds a greater sense of credibility. It makes some of the missions feel a little bit more real.

So how does the team actually end up in Japan? Well, some of it has to deal with the big Remi twist at the end of this past season. According to TV GuideRemi is going to head, with the help of Rich Dotcom, to Japan in search of some sort of adversary. While there, prepare for some incredible scenery — but also some action-packed battles including some sword-fights! Jaimie Alexander notes that her character fights four guys with one sword, and also fights a woman with two swords. We imagine that there was a lot of sword-training that happened for this episode, and it’s going to be cool to watch and also different in both style and substance.

Blindspot season 4 will premiere on NBC this October, and all signs point towards this being one of the most important arcs for the show to date. Not only is this a chance to see more of Jane’s history through Remi, but at the same time it marks a chance to see if the show can establish some ratings stability on Friday nights. If it levels off some of its numbers this year in comparison to season 3, maybe it has a chance for some long-term stability! Or, at least this is some of what we’re hoping for.
