Blindspot season 4 spoilers: Ennis Esmer (finally) upped to series regular

Blindspot season 3 episode 16

Blindspot season 4 has finally made a move we’ve been wondering about for some time — promoting Ennis Esmer to series regular.

According to a report from Deadline, Esmer is going to be around more than ever before as Rich Dotcom, the brilliant computer mastermind who understands the dark web better than almost anyone. What’s so great about this character is his journey from villain-of-the-week at the start of the series to an eventual ally of the FBI … though we imagine that there are still some trust issues bubbling underneath the surface here.

One of the only reasons why this promotion didn’t happen earlier is probably a combination of two things: Evolving the Rich Dotcom character so he could be around more and then also Esmer’s own busy schedule. He has been in a consistent number of other series, including You Me Her and also Private Eyes. Now, you’re going to have a chance to see him in at least the majority of this show’s season 4 episodes. He’ll add to the overall tapestry of the series and hopefully be a part of some major upcoming cases. If nothing else, we love watching him for some of his hijinks with Patterson.

Basically, consider this to be yet another reason to be excited about the upcoming fourth season of Blindspot, which is going to be premiering on NBC at some point this fall. The show is still on Friday nights, so we hope that everyone continues to watch live — this is one of those series that needs as many viewers as possible in order to stick around. Keeping some familiar characters on board in a larger capacity is one way to help do that. We already know that season 4 has a great hook courtesy of Remi and everything that her arrival will do to Weller.
