Outlander season 4: Why we’re in the harshest part of Droughtlander

Outlander

We are now in the middle of July, and for the time being, we’ve got another name for it: The harshest part of Droughtlander in the months to come. The Outlander convention in Las Vegas is over, there is no presence at San Diego Comic-Con, and there are very few signs that the drought is going to be getting any easier in the near future.

So why is this the worst period, and how will August get better? Mostly, it has to do with some of the other things happening around the show. Near the end of this month, Sam Heughan’s promotional campaign for The Spy Who Dumped Me will really ramp up. A number of press-junket interviews have already been filmed, and you’ll start seeing those play out in the coming weeks. There will be a lot of talk about that film, but then also some Outlander chatter and also, hopefully, a tease or two about his upcoming Bloodshot. Once that promotional campaign is over, we’ll probably at least get a tease or two about some of the other projects that Sam and Caitriona Balfe are each working on. While they may not be tied to Outlander itself, isn’t some news better than no news at all?

Remember, there’s also another convention coming in New Jersey next month, so that should make some of the hiatus a little bit easier for a stretch.

In looking beyond all of that now, we do think by late August, Starz should start rolling out the teasers for season 4. By September, we’re expecting some sort of premiere-date announcement and potential trailer. At that point, we’re really off to the races! There will be new photos, new videos, teases from New York Comic-Con in October, and all sorts of other fun stuff moving forward to the premiere.

Here at CarterMatt, we’ve got a few more features planned, including more updates to our article series offering suggestions for possible TV roles for various stars during the Droughtlander. You can view the one for Sam here, or the one for Caitriona over at this link.
