Gotham season 5 not coming to San Diego Comic-Con

Gotham

Earlier today, the folks over at Warner Bros. TV confirmed a number of the different series of theirs that are coming to San Diego Comic-Con. Unfortunately, there was a clear omission that brought a rather-big frown to our face: GothamWhy isn’t it there? We hoped that this was just an accidental omission or something that could be announced later, but the official SDCC blog on Twitter has confirmed that the series is a no-show.

If this was any other year for Gotham, maybe this news would not be anywhere near as sad. Yet, we’re talking here about a series in its final season and that makes this all the more of a bummer. This was a chance for the cast and producers to celebrate with the Comic-Con crowd one last time and it’s a shame that they won’t be there in order to do that. Often, these decisions are ones made by studio, and there are a number of different components that go into it when it comes to everything from cost to scheduling to other logistics. Bringing a panel to the convention these days is not something that is done altogether easily, and we understand that, but it doesn’t make us any less disappointed.

As sad as we are about this though, there is some element of a silver lining here: We do think that there are going to be some other opportunities coming up for a Gotham presence at conventions, especially since we’re talking about a show that tends to hit this circuit heavily. We hope that with the series filming in New York, the cast will assemble at New York Comic-Con later this year. If not there, many cast members frequent some of the various Heroes & Villains Fan Fests that happen throughout the year. Either way, we just want there to be a chance for Gotham fans to celebrate the show one more time before the final season premieres on Fox at some point next year.
