Outlander: On Jamie Fraser’s birthday, here are five wishes for him
So, as a celebration of this big day, we thought we would help to hand down some of our own wishes for Jamie. What do we want to see for him over the next year? These aren’t so much our expectations for season 4 (read some of those here) — instead, this is just what we’d want for this character in a perfect world.
1. A wonderful new home – We know that Jamie and Claire are on their way towards discover Fraser’s Ridge in season 4, and what we’d love for him to have there is a place where he can build a new home, meet some new friends, and satisfy his itch for adventure without getting himself in danger.
2. A relationship that is stronger than ever – We know that there is a great deal of push and pull that will constantly be present with Jamie and Claire — that’s a part of why we love them! What we at least want for Jamie is a chance to actually be near his wife for a substantial period of time. It seems as though no matter what’s going on with Jamie and Claire, something happens that separates the two of them. Can’t they just be around each other for a substantial period of time?
3. A chance to be a mentor – This is something that we got a brief sense of in Edinburgh with the character at the Print Shop; now, we’d like to see more of it. Jamie has a tremendous paternal instinct that is present with so many characters including Young Ian and Fergus. We think that he enjoys being able to help others find their path and share with them some of what he’s learned.
4. A chance to meet Brianna – While Jamie entering season 4 may not be thinking that such a meeting is possible, that has to float around in his mind somewhere. We want that moment for him and we know that this is something that will enrich his life further. After all, it’s a chance to learn further about a time period he knows nothing about.
5. A hope to see Murtagh again – The friendship between these two characters is one of the greatest things about the first couple of seasons. We know that the character is still out there in the series and just like with Brianna, the thought of seeing Murtagh again is probably floating around somewhere within Jamie’s mind. Jamie has been through so much that he deserves happiness of the greatest kind — and that includes getting to spend more time with some of those close to him.
