The Big Bang Theory season 11 episode 20 preview: Meet Dr. Wolcott

The Big Bang Theory season 11 episode 2

Who is Dr. Wolcott? He is a brilliant scientist who will be a key component in The Big Bang Theory season 11 episode 20, though beyond that, he will be tied to Dr. Sheldon Cooper at a time most important to him.

After all, next week’s new episode marks the official beginning to bachelor / bachelorette parties, which should in theory be the time in which these characters are off celebrating the marriage that is about to be coming up. For Sheldon, though, we already know that he can’t do anything normal — hence, the rather strange spot that he finds himself in over the course of this episode.

Below, the Big Bang Theory season 11 episode 20 synopsis offers up a little more information about who Dr. Wolcott is and, beyond that, how Amy is going to celebrate her bachelorette party with the help of Penny and Pernadette:

“The Reclusive Potential” – A brilliant but reclusive scientist, Doctor Wolcott (Peter MacNicol), invites Sheldon to his cabin in the middle of nowhere, and Leonard, Raj and Howard go along for the trip. Also, Penny and Bernadette improvise after Amy doesn’t like the tame bachelorette party they planned for her, on THE BIG BANG THEORY, Thursday, April 12 (8:00-8:31 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network.

In some ways, it feels almost as though Sheldon and Amy are polar opposites when it comes to how they want to ring in some of these celebrations. In the case of Sheldon, for example, he’s heading out to the middle of nowhere to speak with one of the most antisocial people imaginable. Meanwhile, Amy is throwing herself head-first into an extremely social environment leading up to her big day.

While these two characters may have many similarities, this is a great example of some of their differences. Sheldon may love Amy but he also isn’t striving for more social connections and friendships. Meanwhile, that’s always been a part of Amy, someone who didn’t have the attention or care needed when she was younger. They’re interesting partners for each other in that they have so many things similar, and yet underneath all of that are a sea of differences.

If you didn’t know before, Sheldon and Amy are going to be getting married at the end of this season. You therefore know a little bit more about precisely what we are building to with this show and there’s absolutely a little excitement that should go along with that. Personally, we’re excited for the wedding but also just as much excited for the journey that is going to take us to that point.
