Outlander Weekly Roundup: Filming recaps and other stories

Outlander Weekly Recap

Are you ready for the latest edition of our Outlander Weekly Roundup? We hope so, since it’s been a fairly eventful week for the Starz series, at least in terms of the sheer number of things that have been going on in and around the show’s production.

Before sharing some of our other recent stories from this past week, here’s a quick update: Filming for the third block of season 4 (episodes five and six) began on January 8 in Scotland. Filming has already taken place in a number of different locations — the series has interior set locations that are hidden from the public eye, but they’ve actually been outdoors at a number of different places as of late. We had filming take place at Cumbernauld Glen starting at the end of this past week; Caitriona Balfe was spotted at work there, and she could be back on Monday or Tuesday.

Meanwhile, Richard Rankin also turned in an appearance in the village of Falkland, which has been used in the series before. We’re probably going to see the show use a bunch of new locations the rest of the season, especially for Jamie and Claire. Don’t expect the two of them to be anywhere iconic to Scotland since they are trying to pretend that they are elsewhere.

We’ll have more Outlander filming scoop throughout the week — let’s get now into the Weekly Roundup portion of this piece.

Character spotlight – This week the focus was on Marsali! We actually don’t have too many more major characters to get through (we’re not doing one on Rollo, sad to say), but we should have enough content for at least the next couple of weeks.

Some of the latest cast notes – Want to know what is going on when it comes to Sophie Skelton, David Berry, and many other actors from the show? We’re happy to provide the latest for you here!

Should Outlander keep the 13-episode model every season? – This is an interesting question mostly because there are so many different directions that the show could choose to go here depending on production and story needs.

Is there any story left to tell with Tobias Menzies? – Given that Frank Randall isn’t completely gone from the books, there could be room to bring him back in some form.

Finally – Check out our discussion as to why Outlander appeals to male viewers — a big demographic for the show that isn’t always discussed.
