Will Sam Heughan, Caitriona Balfe ever get SAG Awards love? Outlander Weekly Roundup

Let’s begin today’s edition of our Outlander Weekly Roundup by raising what we think is a pertinent question with the SAG Awards airing tonight — what is it going to take for this organization in particular to give Sam Heughan and Caitriona Balfe a little bit of love? Despite Balfe getting three straight nominations at the Golden Globes, for example, she’s yet to get one here. Meanwhile, Heughan also finds himself snubbed, a fate that has most unfortunately happened to him on a number of occasions across the board.

We know that Heughan and Balfe were both eligible for the award this year, but unfortunately, it just hasn’t happened yet. We could come up with all sorts of conspiracy theories for it, whether it be SAG voters not being familiar enough or the show not airing on a mainstream-enough network, but we don’t really think that either one of these are it.

Ultimately, the biggest thing that will aid Balfe and Heughan in their quest for awards love here will be if they get a big win somewhere else. SAG Awards tend to often follow the lead of other awards shows. If you’re looking for a breakthrough winner or a surprise, this is not where you are going to find it. Balfe or Heughan getting a win somewhere else will help them here; ultimately, this is why we tend to focus more on the Emmys and the Golden Globes in our own coverage. We keep things honed-in more on the venues where we think they are more likely to get the nomination / win right out of the gate.

What’s happening with Outlander season 4 filming? – Production is continuing in Scotland and, to be frank, things have been rather cold there.

The current Outlander Emmy standings – This one feels pretty appropriate to touch on given everything that we spoke about earlier.

Will the FCC resolve Optimum – Starz dispute? – At this point, we’re sure customers of the service would love that or anything that will allow them to get Starz back.

Could Outlander really divide up two seasons based entirely on one book? – It was a question hinted at recently at TCA and it is something we discuss in great depth now.
