Outlander season 4: Three things that Starz should highlight next

Outlander season 4

With Outlander season 4’s first scene airing on Starz on Sunday night, it’s fair to say that we are reasonably satisfied. To use a food metaphor (yet another reminder that we love food), it’s like having a really good meal. You’re satisfied for a little while, but after spending the next couple of weeks thinking about how good and special that meal was you want to have another one. There are plenty of good things that Starz could give us to feast on over the next several months … but what will they choose to? That’s what this article is about!

Below, you can get a sense as to the three things that we’d like to see the network hand down insofar as teasers go. (There are mild book spoilers ahead … really mild ones.)

1. New characters – We know of three major ones now in Stephen Bonnet (Ed Speleers), Aunt Jocasta (Maria Doyle Kennedy), and Ulysses (Colin McFarlane). How about a new photo or teaser featuring one or all of them? There’s a good chance that they could be revealed in some sort of official trailer coming up, but there’s no real reason to have to wait that long in order to see them in action other than Starz holding out on it.

2. North Carolina during the daytime – Whether it be Fraser’s Ridge or somewhere nearby, why not present more of the color palette you are working with? We got a small sense of that in the season 4 sneak peek, but the lighting with it being nighttime made it a little more challenging to see the scenery. North Carolina, or at least Scotland doubling as North Carolina, during the day should offer up more of a sense of location diversity from one season to the next.

3. Brianna – Let’s keep this one pretty simple. Even non-book readers are at least somewhat aware that this character has a huge future on the show, and there isn’t really a reason to hide what some of that future could be. Therefore, it is our hope that at some point in the future Starz offers up a glimpse of her heading back in time or what some of her period wear could look like. This would be especially valuable given the fact that it’s been so long since we’ve seen the character in the first place. (Think here in terms of “Freedom & Whisky” back during the first half of season 3.) For non-readers, this could feel like an eternity.
