The Morning Show season 5 will be final one on Apple TV

There have been rumors for weeks that The Morning Show season 5 could be the final one on Apple TV but today, it is official.

According to Deadline, the long-running drama featuring Reese Witherspoon and Jennifer Aniston is coming to a close … and should we really be that surprised? In general, streaming shows have a somewhat-limited shelf life compared to broadcast and cable counterparts and really, this one has been around since the formative days of Apple’s streaming service. It generated a lot of attention and headlines for them, but it is also expensive and we’re sure that its cast also is eager to do a number of other things. (Witherspoon, for example, is already looking to return to the world of Big Little Lies in the near future.)

The aforementioned site does also note that as of right now, the plan here is to bring the series back at some point next year, which makes sense given the current production timeline. There is no real reason for them to hurry anything along given the fact that filming has been going on for the past few months. What makes the most sense for Apple right now is simply trying to find the right spot in the schedule to bring the series back. If they manage to pull that off, we tend to think they will then have a big promotional campaign to keep people hyped for the final chapter.

We ultimately are just going to stand by the same thing that we’ve said on a number of occasions here — Bradley and Alex remain the fabric of the show. We know that there is often a lot that happens with The Morning Show, but we really just want to see this relationship remain the top priority overall.
