The Outlander season 3 schedule, tentative finale date revealed
Some of this news is coming in via Outlander TV News, who also has more details on episode titles/synopses over there. As a non-reader of the books ourselves, some of that information we’re not going to post here at CarterMatt with the assumption that there are others out there who watch the show without reading the books and want to be surprised.
Let’s now get into some of the Outlander season 3 dates, because there are a few interesting things worth noting.
1. A random hiatus – There is no episode scheduled when we get around to Sunday, October 15. There’s an episode on October 8, and then following that the next new episode is going to air on October 22. Maybe this is just Starz’s way of trying to divide up some of the story — there is a natural divide they could create in the form of the Jamie – Claire reunion, but that could all depend on the specific timing of the Print Shop scene and when they’re back together.
2. A tentative finale date – The site also notes that the last episode will air on December 10, which effectively does mean that you’re going to get three full months of new Outlander stories. That’s worthy of some celebration, and we’re still grateful that we’re getting 13 episodes of this show given that there are some other cable series out there that are scaling back when it comes to their episode count (we are looking at you Game of Thrones!)
3. Another thing worth noting – Other than the aforementioned hiatus there are new episodes every week, and the show is not taking off the Sunday after Thanksgiving.
Could this Outlander season 3 episode schedule change?
We don’t think so, at least when it comes to the premiere date, but beyond that you do have to remember that Starz just recently pushed back the Power finale date a little over a week before it was meant to air. Therefore, you can circle December 10 on your calendar in pencil (instead of permanent marker), since there could be some fluctuations coming down the line depending on network demands or current events.
Could we see this schedule emulated next year?
We’d love for it to happen, especially since Outlander is starting season 4 production at a time where it would make some sense for the show to then premiere it in the fall once again. We know that there are some of us out there that are hopeful this will happen, but production for this show takes a long time. After thinking and hoping that season 3 would premiere earlier than it did, we’re not holding our breath on anything right now. It’s better to just be cautiously optimistic and then see what happens down the road.
