Supergirl season 3, Legends of Tomorrow season 3, and confirmations
Supergirl and Lena Luthor – At this point, it’s likely clear that Katie McGrath will be a regular on the third season. What wasn’t clear in the finale is whether or not she is aware that Kara Danvers is Supergirl. This is something that Cat Grant has figured out, but apparently, Lena has not.
Speaking per TVLine, executive producer Andrew Kreisberg noted that for the time being, Lena “definitely thinks they’re two people.” That could easily change in season 3, but McGrath and others have said that there is value to the relationship that she has with Kara now. This is one of the few relationships that is compartmentalized in such a way, and that offers up some opportunities to explore different dynamics that would not be there otherwise.
Granted, this current configuration likely will not last, given that Lena, like Cat, is also incredibly smart. There is only so long that the truth is going to be able to evade her grasp before she starts to figure all of this out.
Legends of Tomorrow and Amaya – Meanwhile, Entertainment Weekly confirms that Maisie Richardson-Sellers is poised to come back as the character in her own right during the third season. The only reason for some confusion on this subject was because of her absence during a recent logline; however, she was present in a group photo shared recently by Brandon Routh, so hopefully that gave you a little bit of hope for her return even before this.
Amaya’s return does further set up the good and bad of what’s happening with Legends of Tomorrow at the moment. The good is clearly that this is a show that has a wide array of great characters, and she is one of them. The problem is trying to find a way to give them all airtime given that this cast only seems to be expanding. Rip Hunter is going to be a part of season 3, and there was another character recently cast to join the team.
Of course, be sure to share your thoughts on both of these stories below! We’ll have some further news coming up before long. (Photo: The CW.)
