This Is Us episode 17: How the William news will effect everyone

When This Is Us returns to NBC with new episodes, one of the things that you can absolutely expect to see is the aftermath of William’s death. This was not an easy thing for Randall to come to grips with over the course of the episode “Memphis,” and it’s absolutely not going to be something that the other characters are able to tackle and deal with every easily, either. After all, he may have been Randall’s biological father, but the truth here is still that the passing impacts everyone.

In speaking on the subject further to TV Guide, Susan Kelechi Watson (who plays the character of Beth) made some of her own thoughts rather clear on the subject of precisely what you could end up seeing from her:

“What we can expect is to see how William affected Beth, … They started off as strangers and they slowly became family, then they became friends. That part of her life is gone. The adjustment that she has to make and her grief is something we can expect to see.”

Everyone handles death their own way, and what is probably all the more painful for Randall, Jack, and Kate is how they’ve already gone through the loss of a father once in Jack. Kate and Kevin remember what that was like, so they will take it upon themselves to try and make sure if there is a way to further ensure that Randall has someone to lean on and someone who cares for him. This is not going to be an easy transition, but this is life … and This Is Us. Dealing with hardship is just a key part of the series’ DNA at this point.

The other sad news with the series is simply that there are only two more episodes to go this season. Therefore, you have to savor every last second that you have, knowing that it will be fleeting.
