‘Dancing with the Stars 22’ finale: Ginger Zee’s injury could impact participation

Ginger -

The season 22 finale of “Dancing with the Stars” begins on Monday night, and if Ginger Zee is unable to recover from the latest injury to hit the ballroom, she could struggle to even hit the stage. We know there are frustrating ways to go out, but this has to be right at the top of the list. Specifically, Us Weekly reports that she has injured her pelvis, and that makes it rather hard to move, let alone hit the stage to dance.

Here is what a show source specifically told the publication on her progress:

“Ginger’s injury is really serious … Right now she can’t rehearse the full dance, and Jenna Johnson is standing in during blocking. She will not know until the show on Monday if she can complete the two dances, a contemporary dance and the freestyle.”

While we have seen some contestants have to withdraw in the past due to injury, we think that a good nine times out of ten, they have a tendency to make it on the stage to compete despite fears and claims in the press otherwise. Much of that is due to necessary recovery time, while some other parts of it are due to that extra shot of adrenaline and desire to compete. Ginger and her partner Val Chmerkovskiy are so close to the end of the show, and if they can get some decent scores, the public could will them to the title based on support for her doing so well even while hurt.

Now that we’ve said all of that … we do still think that Nyle DiMarco is the favorite. As we’ve said in our contestant rankings, he has that right mixture of performance quality and also the inspirational story that viewers are going to eat up.
