‘Dancing with the Stars 22’ finale rankings: Nyle DiMarco vs. Ginger Zee vs. Paige VanZant

Nyle -

Dancing with the Stars” fans, the showdown is here. If you told us before the season that the three Stars above would be the three in the finale, we would have said that you were about 66% right. We figured that Paige, given her dance history, and Nyle, given his story, would both compete for the Mirrorball Trophy in the end. Ginger caught us by surprise, since we figured traveling cross-country every week would be a lot for a woman who isn’t really even used to performing beyond what she does as a meteorologist.

Now that we’ve said that, could Ginger win? We’re going to analyze that in the rankings below, along with several other factors that we’ve considered all season long.

3. Paige VanZant and Mark Ballas – Yes, Paige probably is the best dancer, but this show is not entitled “The Best Dancer Wins Every Time.” We don’t get the sense that she has the fan support of the other two, even if she has an amazing choreographer. Paige’s skill set mostly revolves around her ability to attack in a way that neither Nyle nor Ginger can; if she wants to win, she’s gotta really play that up and have a freestyle that goes down as one of the best ever.

2. Ginger Zee and Val Chmerkovskiy – Ginger has some momentum, given that she’s drawn perfect scores before, she’s relatable, and you cannot deny that hearing her discussed frequently on “Good Morning America” has an impact on voters. We don’t buy into any of the conspiracy theories that ABC wants one of its employees to win, mostly because all of these people are employees now. We just think that Ginger has a good promotional platform and she’s worked really hard.

1. Nyle DiMarco and Peta Murgatroyd – Regardless of how well the other two ladies fare, you’re going to have a hard time convincing us that the second deaf contestant in the show’s history, and someone with consistently great scores to boot, is going to lose this competition. If you can combine a wonderful story with spectacular dancing, you are going to be really hard to beat. Nyle has done that, and we think the only thing standing his way now is a culmination moment on the performance show Monday. If he gets roughly the same scores as the other two, he’s golden.
