‘NCIS’ season 13 spoilers: See Jon Cryer, Gibbs’ health crisis in new promo
The first promo for “NCIS” season 13 has hit the internet, and it is every bit as dramatic as you would expect for it to be given the cliffhanger that we were left with. Agent Gibbs was shot, and it is now all about his fight for survival … and what comes next when he does. It has basically already been revealed that the show is not planning to kill off Mark Harmon from the cast, so this is at least one thing that you don’t need to worry about.
In addition to Gibbs’ struggle to recover and a few of the sadder moments, this promo does also hype up the first appearance of Jon Cryer (“Two and a Half Men”) as Dr. Taft, a known surgeon in the Navy who will be responsible for figuring out how to keep Gibbs from dying. It’s a very different role than we’re used to seeing Cryer play in Alan Harper; Taft is successful, good at his job, and extremely confident in what he does. It’s going to be interesting to have him around.
While this surgery takes place, you are going to see the likes of DiNozzo and McGee doing work halfway around the world; the threats are not going to stop just because Gibbs is in danger, and this is something that they do have to contend with.
Eventually, much of the season is really going to be all about changing dynamics with the team. Gibbs is not going to be able to lead in the way that he once could, which means that other characters may have to step up more. Therefore, expect many clashes when it comes to proper leadership.

Can’t stomach Jon Cryer… couldn’t stand him before, really can’t stand him now… he doesn’t fit the profile… haven’t figured out what anyone sees in him, in any fashion.

I’m just not looking forward to another season of overdone Gibbs angst. Enough already. The constant poor poor Gibbs tragedies are so over used that they are no longer compelling. Wish they’d let other characters have the spotlight for more than a millisecond. This is about the millionth angsty Gibbs plot line and about the 5th time he’s been on the brink of death. Sorry but the repetitive nature of these plots have become a depressing snoozefest.
