‘Game of Thrones’ season 6: More on Kit Harington, Maisie Williams, Natalie Dormer from SDCC

Game of Thrones -The “Game of Thrones” panel at San Diego Comic-Con was certainly lively, and it managed to do this even without the presence of any significant news on next season … though we did get a few good lines and moments from the proceedings.

Let’s begin here once again with “Mother’s Mercy” director David Nutter, who after saying that Stannis Baratheon is truly dead, also told Entertainment Weekly today that he had to inform President Obama on the fate of one Jon Snow. Let’s just say that the Commander-in-Chief may not have been altogether happy with the news he received:

“Three weeks ago, I was the in the company of the President of the United States … He turned to me, put his hand on my shoulder, and said, ‘You didn’t kill Jon Snow did you?’

“I said, ‘Jon Snow is deader than dead. I thought I was going to be sent to Guantanamo or something, but fortunately I’m here — but he’s dead.”

Of course, the interesting thing here about Nutter’s comments is that Jon can be dead within the context of the show, and that does not quite mean that he will stay that way. Asked at the panel if Melisandre has the power to revive people, Carice van Houten gave a reply that was of the “I don’t want to love my job” variety.

As for some other great moments:

1. Natalie Dormer is more curious than anyone what is going to happen with Margaery next; she joked that she probably needs both a shower and a coffee at this point.

2. Maisie Williams joked that she hoped Arya doesn’t stay blind, mostly because wearing those contact lenses for that part of the show was not exactly a comfortable thing for her to do.

3. Audition tapes! Take a look at some of the ones released by the show today.
