‘Heroes: Reborn’ will have defined beginning, middle, and end

Later on this fall, NBC is set to launch a project in “Heroes: Reborn” that has, at least at this point, been more than a year in the making. Yet, despite all of the wait time there is still very little that is actually known about the project itself. There are few details made available to the public about the story, even though we know that Robbie Kay, Zachary Levi, and others have been added to the cast.

If there is at least still one thing that we can tell you with confidence, it is this: Do not expect the story of this show to necessarily drag on forever. This is a series intended, much like “Wayward Pines” over on Fox, to be a limited event. That does not write off potential future seasons, but it is not being created with a continuation of the story in mind. Therefore, watch with some confidence.

Here is what executive producer and original series creator Tim Kring had to say on this particular subject in a new interview with Deadline:

“The assignment and what we discussed with NBC was an event, and what that does, it gives us the opportunity to do a closed-ended story that has a beginning, and a middle, and an end, and in this day and age with so many things to compete for people’s eyeballs and their attention on television, to log onto something that tells a finite story and has an end in sight I think gives the audience that peace of mind that they can jump on it without believing that it’s going to go on endlessly and maybe not pay off in the end.”

Now comes the next challenge: Working to make absolutely certain that the story you do have is a good one. We’ll have to be the judge of that in September.
