‘Heroes: Reborn’: Zachary Levi discusses landing new role

Heroes -Heroes: Reborn” is clearly one of the most-anticipated new series on the NBC schedule, and it also marks a really tremendous opportunity for Zachary Levi to work with the network again, but in a very different way. If you have read this site for any extended period of time, you’ll know that “Chuck” is one of our favorite all-time series. Therefore, we really hope that this is something that reminds us of the greatness of “Heroes” season 1.

So how did Levi get involved with this new show? It’s an interesting story, and we feel like his comments to Entertainment Weekly are also probably the closest thing we’ve received to information on just who he is actually playing:

“Initially, I reached out to them. Then I ran into some of my NBC friends and they’re like ‘We’d love to have you back on NBC.’ Then I started having some conversations with Tim Kring and he was open to the idea and pitched me on this character and kind of some broad strokes and I thought, ‘This is awesome.’ For me, my one big mandate was I wanted to play something that wasn’t Chuck. I wanted to get away from that kind of archetype and do something that was darker and grittier and heavier — and that’s exactly what we found. It also still has a really unique dynamic kind of arc to the character and the journey that he’s on.”

With this being said, we do still want a “Chuck” movie at some point. Make it happen, people! More than anything, though, we’re just glad that we are getting to see Levi back on network TV again. We’ve wondered in between this information and one of the motion posters that is out there for “Heroes: Reborn” if he is playing a villain; it may take until either Comic-Con later this week (or the show’s premiere in late September) for us to find out.
