‘MasterChef’ season 6, episode 5 preview: Getting crabby

Tonight’s episode of “MasterChef” brought us everything from amusement parks to cinnamon rolls, and in the end, it was actually amusement park guide and perpetual optimist Darah who left the show as a result of everything that went awry. This leaves the overall field of competitors even smaller, and next week we return to the familiar format of Mystery Box / Elimination Challenge.

Granted, we will warn you now that it appears like next week is the one episode you probably do not want to watch if you are extremely sensitive when it comes to animal violence. Basically, you will see live crabs become dead crabs and the ultimately dinner by the end of the Mystery Box challenge. While we are certainly not someone who shies away from eating meat, there is a disconnect in the human psyche sometimes when it comes to consuming versus actually being the one to do the animal in.

Anyway, we imagine that this will be an extremely hard struggle for some of the cooks, and then after that we will have a very tense challenge that apparently leads to some mixed emotions, and even a potential threat from one cook to another.

Our guess? This is probably a challenge where the Mystery Box winner hands out certain ingredients to certain contestants, and some are probably going to be more coveted than others. Ultimately, this is a chance to strategically doom a favorite early on in the game … granted that one of them fails.
