‘Gotham’ episode 19 spoilers: Show boss on current dilemma for Fish Mooney

Gotham -After many weeks off of the air, “Gotham” returns to Fox tonight to begin airing its final four episodes. Will they be eventful ones? For now, it is hard to respond to that with anything other than a confident “yes.” After all, whatever happens here has to set up the endgame for Fish Mooney on the show. We are starting to feel like Jada Pinkett Smith took some of the air out of the show’s tires when she publicly announced that she only signed a one-year deal to appear on the show.

While this exit may be happening, don’t expect it to take place right away. Instead, be prepared for a story that will revolve around whether or not she can rise to power again after being stuck as the queen of the prisoners. She’s already had some eye-popping adventures to say the least (see what we did there?), but there could be many more on the way. Just take a look at what show executive producer Bruno Heller said in previewing the story to TVLine:

“It’s certainly about reinventing herself and coming back twice as strong, twice as ambitious … Every strong villain wants to be the queen or the king of the underworld, but it’s an ambition that trips up a lot of people — if you’re striving for ultimate power, you always run the risk of ultimate defeat. And that’s essentially whats playing out now: Can Fish take control or not? Because the consequences of failure are dire.”

We don’t necessarily think that Fish’s fate will be solely told in whether or not she can control this prison or take out the show’s version of the Dollmaker; instead, it is about Maroni, Falcone, and the Penguin, who we think of as the trifecta of doom at this point. While one of them could use her, they don’t trust her (and they shouldn’t); therefore, she is expendable to all of the major players.
