‘The Voice’ finale spoilers: Chris Jamison, Matt McAndrew, Craig Wayne Boyd battle on iTunes
Going into tonight’s finale for “The Voice,” it really feels like we have one of the closest races that we’ve had to date for the title. There are three artists who are performing exceptionally well on iTunes, and we could imagine a situation where any of them end up winning. (Note: All iTunes data is from 2:30 p.m. Eastern time. It may change before the show.)
Let’s start here by ruling out Damien for the title. While his winner’s single “Soldier” is in the top ten, it’s at #8, and his other songs are lower on the charts than the other contestants. He would need to exponentially beat the others in phone / text / online votes to have a show.
The case for Matt McAndrew – His song “Wasted Love” is #1 as of this writing, he performed at the end of the show, and his duet “Lost Stars” is also sitting at #10. These two performances combined may be enough for him. Also, he has had serious winner vibes for most of the live shows.
The case for Craig Wayne Boyd – His song “My Baby’s Got a Smile on Her Face” is #2, and “In Pictures” is #13 while his duet with Blake Shelton is #16. More importantly, we feel like he may have the biggest coalition of old-school phone voters out of anyone. Blake fans tend to come out big for his contestants.
The case for Chris Jamison – His song “Velvet” is at #3, but his “Lost Without U” is only two spots behind that at #5. Meanwhile, his “Cry Me a River” is at #11, and he closer to having three songs in the top ten than any other contestant. He may be the underdog, but he arguably had the best overall night and could be the underdog champion when the dust settles.
We would probably lean to Matt as the winner, but this race is really too close to call. We feel like it is almost like Matt has a 40% shot, Craig has a 33% shot, Chris has a 25% shot (it’s possible that his #3 on iTunes is a distant one), and Damien probably has only around a 2% chance.
